Still Trying to Figure Out the Cat-Eye Thing? Here's How to Make the Perfect Shape: Girls in the Beauty Department: Beauty: glamour.com

With the cat-eye look basically coming to a lid near you any second, I feel it's time to discuss how to know how up-turned to make the tail and how far to take it out from your eye.

There are different levels of curvature and extension that you can choose from. I've broken them down for you below.

Level 1: The thin flick (seen here on Dita Von Teese)

Perfect for: All eye shapes
What it does: Gives your eyes a retro feel
How to pull it off: Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and then just trace the outline and curve of your outer most lash. Then go over it again to make it a little more dramatic.

Level 2: The extended wisp (seen here on Michelle Trachtenberg)

Perfect for: Almond shaped eyes
What it does: Simply extends the line of your upper lid for a sultry effect
How to pull it off: Just imagine an invisible line extending from the natural slope of your upper lid and then going very, very slightly upwards. The goal is to get a very subtle dip here so your eyes look mysterious, not cutesy.

Level 3: Thick with a dramatic dip (shown here on French actress Virginie Ledoyen):

Perfect for: Anyone who wants their eyes to really pop
What it does: Brightens and opens the eye slightly
How to pull it off: Follow the dip in your browbone up toward your temples with a nice thick layer of liner. The goal here is to get the liner in the dip of your outer eye socket. It might take a little practice.

Level 4: Super thick, super up-turned (shown here on Nicole Richie):

Perfect for: Anyone looking for major drama
What it does: Makes your eyes look glowing and pretty from across the room
How to pull it off: After you trace your upper lashline with a thick band of liner, drag the pen tip up and out toward the outer corner of your eyebrows. Then go back and draw over it again and again.

So that's it--the basic cat-eye liner shapes you can go for. Which one if your go-to? Going to add one of these into your rotation? Got a tip to share? Spill all below.
